Now, go back in time with the visit to the centenary house of “Ban Than Khun Ratthawut Wichan”. Formerly owned by the District Sheriff, this wooden house has been preserved in its original condition. It is representative of the architectural style of the South called "pan yha".

Continue your journey by exploring the impressive Wat Phra Mahathat Woramahawihan, the oldest and most important temple in all southern Thailand. Built in 291 BC, the central pagoda contains a Buddha tooth. Also, we find this temple on the 0.25 THB coin.

Then stop by the workshop of Khun Suchat, a local artist who has an impressive collection of "Nang Talung" shadow puppets. He is one of the latest masters that keep on creating this near-extinct art. Now, come along the ancient ruined walls dating from the 12th century to go to the far north of the city and conclude this city tour with the sublime Wat Pradu Pattanaram. Rumors says that this is where the ashes of none other than Taksin the Great, predecessor of the current Chakri dynasty and founder of Bangkok, are housed.
